Far South CDC operates the Neighborhood Business Development Center (NBDC), its in-house business services program, led by a dedicated NBDC director on staff.

NBDCs provide general business licensing and public way use permitting guidance as well as specialized support services based on their program type ,which includes confidential counseling, technical assistance, professional development workshops, access to capital, B2B networking, employment and workforce development assistance and more.

Special Service Area #45 (SSA45) District Management

Economic DevelopmentRevitalization

Far South CDC is the City-contracted Service Provider Agency that manages SSA45's tax-funded programs for the South Halsted Street business district, including budgeting, marketing, and district capacity building.

Special Service Areas, known as Business Improvement Districts or BIDs in other cities, are local tax districts that fund expanded services and programs through a localized property tax levy within contiguous areas.

Facade Enhancement / Rebate Program (SSA45)

Revitalization

Far South CDC, through SSA45, administers a facade rebate program giving commercial property owners in the district funding to improve storefronts and facades.

The Façade Rebate Program (FRP) is currently funded by 56 Special Service Areas in Chicago.

Roseland Medical District Administration

Economic Development

Far South CDC serves as the administrative support organization managing operations and programs for the Roseland Community Medical District, an economic development district aimed at attracting medical and high-tech enterprises.

Far South CDC leads and co-leads regional planning efforts including corridor land use plans, master plans, and TIF/market analyses that shape commercial development in its service area.

Far South CDC will lead a Corridor Land Use Plan for Special Service Area #45, which consists of 27 blocks along South Halsted.
